E46 brake upgrade

Hopefully getting the E46 brake upgrade fitted on Friday. Bought 2nd hand from here. The guy asked………

A few questions…….

1. The kit didn’t appear to come with sliders & bolts 🤷‍♂️

Does anyone have the part numbers so I can buy them prior to fitting.

Again part numbers for pistons.

Again part numbers for any seals etc.

If I’m gonna fit them I want to put all new where possible back on 👍

TIA and I really would appreciate any feedback ASAP to allow this to happen on Friday.

Please note I am useless it is a mechanic who will be doing it 😀
 
I have assumed this is a brake upgrade from the E46 330i (upgrade to 325mm discs).

If so, the parts in question (circled below) are the same as on the 3.0i Z4:

These can likely be re-used depending on condition, but if you wanted new ones the list is below:

  • Carrier to knuckle bolt (no.3) = 34116772428
  • Caliper to carrier slide pin bolt (no.6) = 34111157041
  • Slide pin guide bush (no.4) = 34216869617


Let me know if there is anything else you might need help with.

What is the small cylinder? Just above the brake lines?

Item 3 x4
Item 4 x4
Item 5 x4
Item 6 x4
Item 8 x2 (assuming it doesn’t have)
Item 9 x2 (assuming it doesn’t have)
Item 12 x1 (assuming yours breaks as they go brittle)

That I don’t know!!!! It was in the box, but I don’t think it should have been included 🧐

1. There is only 1 of them.

2. It’s made of very flimsy plastic.

So I’ll discard that then?

I wouldn’t discard it just yet, but yeah no idea what it is!

Also like I mentioned in the other thread. Brake disc bolt would be good as they get pretty rounded and are a pig to remove sometimes.

Also the other post had the whole hubs. Assuming you fit those, be worth using new bolts.

Looks like it ain’t gonna happen on Friday now as by the time I order the parts they won’t be here in time. BUT! At least I’m not cutting corners and doing it properly 👍

I was about to ask the same thing about that cylinder thing. I can't easily tell, but it also looks like you are missing the piston from the caliper. Is this everything that came in the package?

I have seen on the FOR SALE post that Scooby says you seem to have stripped them down. Did you remove the pistons or did they arrive that way? I think it might be a good idea to clear up with Scooby exactly what he sent so you can know what you need to buy.
 
So if anyone would be so kind just to confirm what I’ve went through with Sopers this is what I need 😀 before I pay!

Ignore the bumper covers (bottom 2 on the list) for now.

A lot of that stuff looks expensive. Are you fully refurbishing the calipers?

6772428 you should be able to re-use existing.

1153202 is new piston? I thought the callipers were as-new? maybe getting a new kit with everything from bigg red (seller in ebay links above).
 
Hi Kis, sorry to be a mega pain............... could you please post a link for the alternative to part No. 1153202 (new pistons).

I've ordered everything else I just don't want to feck up the last bit, especially as its brakes!
