E-Petition - MOTORSPORT - Mandatory Noise Complaint Waiver

Britcar's website claims that this has been posted by the UK Government Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. May have just been posted by somebody addressing it to that department.

Either way, I'm sure you'll all agree, if you move next to a circuit, you shouldn't be allowed to complain about the noise.
 
Difficult one though, as what if a track changes a route that was previously not used and residents then get noise they did not have before?

It is similar to the airports, you live near them but if they change a runway it would suddenly impact another group of people.
 
I used to visit Croft circuit through the week to see cars and bikes testing - really enjoyed this and you never knew what might be on the circuit. Then some years ago I'd turn up and the circuit was not being used. When I asked I found out that some local residents had complained and the number of days that the circuit could be used had been reduced enormously.

At the time I thought what did these folk expect having a residence or buying a house close to the circuit?

I've signed the waiver - hope it's not a scam! :o

Have signed up and shared on FB. Did it via googling the government petitions rather than the link so pretty sure its not a scam.

I remember when I used to be in the jap car scene and would go to Japfest at Castle Coombe each year. The main route in to the circuit used to go through a tiny village called Tiddlywink, so you had thousands of usually loud cars queuing along the roads. I used to think the residents must hate this, but every year you had people out the front of their houses chatting to drivers, selling bacon rolls and drinks to the queuing traffic and generally embracing it. Always made me smile.

You have to take those factors into account when purchasing still. Brands is a good example where most of the time they use the shorter circuit, but sometimes they run the longer one.

If there is a circuit there that "could" be used then its buyer beware.
 
I actually meant - building another route that was not there before.
 
Surely that would come under planning permission. No different to moving in next to a field though. Who knows what they might build there.
 
True - but you are not removing the complaint rights away from anyone moving next to a field, whilst you would if this was agreed. If the circuit decides to add new tracks you would not be able to complain.

They would need planning permission I would assume to change the track.

What I was trying to say though that if you move anywhere that is not built up around you already you risk anything happening on those open spaces.
