E-Brake Boot Removal

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone knew how to separate the e-brake foot frame from the armrest behind the e-brake handle. On RealOEM.com the boot and frame are listed as separate items from the armrest however when I removed mine I noticed that it was from what I could see glued together. I want to have a custom Alcantara shift/ebrake combo made but cant figure out how to separate the two. Thanks

You'll have to cut the boot to separate them. There are 2 kinds of e-brake boots for the Z4. The other one is smaller and fits the graphite plastic center console trim which has a different shape from the aluminium console trim/carbon fiber leather trim. The plastic center console trim does not have the opening for the little arm-pad.

I took mine off last weekend on my 03.

If yours is like mine, here is how I did it.

Unsnap the arm rest/boot base from the center console. The boot is attached to the arm rest. Pull the boot over the handle. You should then see a band or a tiewrap holding the boot to the handle. A tiewrap is what I had. Cut the tiewrap without cutting the boot, then pull off over the handle. Takes about two minutes...

I dont think your 03 has the same schematics as my 07. On my 07 the boot frame is attached to a small armrest with what looks like glue, I think the early Z4s didn't have this armrest.

That might very well be the case.

Here is what mine looks like.

Were you able to separate the armrest from the boot? Or no, that's what I'm trying to do.

Again, the arm pad and the e-brake boot are sewn together. If you want to separate them, you're gonna have to cut them apart.
