E 89 Z4M not to be...for now

Its a real shame they didnt drop the V8 from the E92 M3 into the E89. It really is a peach, fingers crossed tho!

Maybe we should email Biermann with a signature from every single person on this forum saying there is clearly a need for it! :evil:

No new Z4MC means my shitter gets to keep its rarity and value a bit better and no M5 Touring means the family bus remains really rare and thus keep its value a bit better again :lol:
 
Given that Audi are churning out diesel TTs, I reckon it'll only be a matter of time until we see a diesel zed.

I agree. Surely it makes sense when so many TT's go that way. There's a lot of other options like 3 coupes that people may end up buying because of the diesel/emissions/economy too.
 
E89 Z4 is hardly a raw sports car so a diesel version makes good sense for BMW. Not done the TT any harm.
 
Hmmmm, I'm not so sure any more. Ok, Merc have just introduced a diesel model to the new SLK range, but I reckon with the new 4 pots (20i and 28i) there may be less need for one in the range.

The Audi A1 Sportback (5 door model) has a new engine that can cut off 2 cylinders when driving around town to save fuel, a bit like auto stop/start. It won't be long before other manufacturers follow suit for emissions and economy.
 
Have to say the Z4 e89 is a lovely looking car. Would have bought one ages ago if they produced a true M version with the 4L V8. However with a few modifications (Chassis, Quaife Dif, Brakes, up the boost pressure, larger inter-cooler etc) you can transform it into a very good handling and fast motor.

The M body kit with the 3D Design front and rear stuff, I think looks amazing. :thumbsup:
 
The E89 must be getting very close to its mid-life refresh now. It was at the same point in the E85's cycle that an M power car was revealed. Unfortunately though I think the chances of it being a 4-litre V8 are non-existent.
 
E-89 sales in the US are much less than was expected. For example in 2007 US sales of all Z4's was 10,097. US sales in 2011 were 3,479. I've got to believe that the soft sales, at least is the US, are one reason that there won't be an ///M... :(
 
Wonder if it's sales are less in the US because it's no longer built there or because it's less of a sports car and more of a GT cruiser? Maybe the economic downturn or a bit of all three? That's a big fall in like for like sales.
