Dynolicious, baby!!!!

 This is what I've been waiting for! I was going to download Dynolicious last week but didn't know if it was any good.

i bought it Friday night, but haven't gone anywhere this weekend. I figured it was cheaper than spending a couple gift cards on a GTech. A Mini guy at work swears by it. Now i've got to rig a nice solid mount in my car.

I too was waiting to see what you would come up with. Now i reckon I'll grab this app. I hope it can be anywhere's in the car, I tend to put it right under my brake handle

It needs to be an ipod touch. From an ipod touch, just hook up to wifi and go to the apps store, otherwise, you can buy it from itunes store via the itunes app.

For Aebous, you probably want something firm to hold it in place like a real mount or one of those sticky pads for dashboard cell phone use (I have one under my brake handle as that's where i put my blackberry). If the iphone is sliding at all as you accelerate or just launch, that will change the acceleration of the device and most likely give you crap readings.

I did not think of something like that. Yeah that would be great, I haven't paid attention to it while it's under the break, i'll have to ask my girl if it shifts around.

Did a few trial runs....my shifting and launch must suck balls  either that or it was shifting and giving an error reading while in the cupholder. What the hell is drivetrain loss? I don't know what if any number that should be programmed too.

Near as I can tell there is no way to save the skidpad results. Or it could be it only saves it per session. I'm not sure, I just know I can't view my G's now.

Remember that this is relying on the accelerometer, so you want it as hard mounted as possible. In reading other forums, some people say anywhere from 12 to 17% for drivetrain loss (that's losing power from the flywheel back to the wheels). If you open the app and check the manual, it has a few suggestions. I'm going to try under the e-brake and pointed directly ahead and as flat as possible.

I haven't tried the skidpad yet and was late for work, so I didn't hit any of the few locations around here that are flat and long enough for me to get up to speed.

Yeah that was my position, under e-brake and flat, fits pretty well there, but tends to slide for corners. I notice that for drivetrain loss if you leave it at 0 it mentions that this will give you the HP at the wheels as opposed to the engine. So does 184HP at the wheels sounds right? It wasn't so great of a run, and I kinda chickened out towards the end as it was a public street and I didn't want too terrible a ticket....next time i'll be middle of nowhere or the drag strip I guess.

if you have the 225 hp version of the motor, then that would be an 18% drivetrain loss and possibly not unreasonable for a 5 year old car. What weight did you use?

A good comparison would be to do some searches on the dyno results for guys with early 3 litre Z4s that have done their before and after runs.

I used the weight stamped on the door, which claims 3.4k??! I thought our cars were lighter than that...I think I might of read the wrong number, I did some searching, some site weighed the 3.0 z4 at 3k lbs. I haven't noticed anywhere's else saying 3.4k lbs for the roadster.

****edit: after various searches I found that the 2003 3.0 with sports package weighs 2998, granted I'm still looking for further confirmation. Also dyno just updated and I can now fully calibrate the program on the phone. I changed the driveyrain loss to18% as was suggested and that changed my hp to be 223 which I think is just two hp off what the manual says. Either way the run was still slow so I will have to try try try again. Did all the searching from the iPhone I did.
