Dying the soft top

Hi all,
I have a sterling grey e85 with a weird greeny/grey soft top, which although uncommon i'm not really a fan of. I'm looking to dye it black, does anyone recommend a specific product to first completely clean the roof and remove all debris, and then another dye the roof black?

I've refreshed mine using Lenovo products (cleaners and fabric dye). It's a messy business so you'll need plenty of draft tape and plastic sheeting to cover the paintwork (and floor), and the key is in spending loads of time on prep to remove all traces of dirt/debris and waterproofing agents.

Lenovo as in laptops?
but yes, i'll take a look at what they have to offer. I know that it's all in the prep which is why it's useful to know what products people use to get the best clean!

If you are removing it to dye it, may be easier to replace it with a balck one and sell on our "rare" green roof?

That would be an option but I wasn't planning on removing the roof in all honesty, maybe I'll dye it for now and change to a proper black hood when the roof motor inevitably packs up!

Sensible plan (don't fancy your chances of selling a green roof tbh)

:D freaking auto carrot. Renovo, of course. The stuff is pretty good, but I did clean the roof twice first.

maybe im putting the cart before the horse but why dont you stick the green roof on ebay for slightly more than you can buy a black one for, if it doesnt sell then you know you can do the dye job if it does your quids in and dont have to worry about doing a potentially messy job

It's an idea but getting the roof off would be a problem for me, and like above, I don't really see anyone wanting the moleskin greeny grey colour over a nice black roof. Rather than making all the effort and potentially about £50 for the trouble, it's easier just to spend £20 and dye it in an afternoon. :)

Hey everyone, greetings from Germany. I registered for this post because i have the exact same soft top color and idea to dye it black wirh renovo. Sadly this color is not really wanted on the market also it is not in a good looking color condition to sell or trade it. So I hope you or anyone else did it and have some experiences and pictures to share.
Hope to hear from you soon
