I use this site when watching wealer dealers type programmes to see if the car still exists.

I taxed mine on Saturday online via the monthly DD scheme using only the new keeper supplement. Are you sure your insurance has updated on the DVLA database and the car has valid MOT?

+1. Collected GF's new car Saturday lunch time (private sale). Set up direct debit online using only the new keeper supplement. Seems strange why the DVLA site won't let you do the same.

I found out that the reason I wasn't able to tax it from the new keepers supplement was because the car came from northern Ireland. I guess the have their own DVLA that doesn't share information with the mainland one.

The post office have now changed things too so you can set up a direct debit in branch.

Worked fine for me on Monday (after buying the car on Sunday)
Any ideas how long the refund process is meant to take when you sell your car?

Officially DVLA say 'up to 6 weeks' which is exactly the period to get my refund, although they apologised and said it was because of 'a cherished plate transfer'.

It took about 3 - 4 weeks for when I sold the Polo.

The SORN process took 16 days or the refund to appear.
