DVLA and the V5 document.

The other car is a 335xd

Whenever I put the Reg No into a Euro parts / insurance / valuation type of web site, it comes back as a 335i M Sport petrol (which I don’t think exists)

It is a 335x Diesel M Sport - can the V5 Document be amended and without too much faff or indeed cost?

There has been a mistake by someone along the way but not of my doing!

Just curious how it impacts the insurance if that is wrong.

Don’t know about how you can do anything with dvla though

The last Ducati I owned had an error on the V5, one digit of the frame number was wrong (it’s all genuine). I never bothered getting it changed but the process required a fairly detailed inspection by the DVLA to check what the vehicle actually is before they will change anything. It’s trying to stop ringing and fake identities etc.

Have you had your car from new? Are you 100% sure it’s what you think it is?

Won’t you be paying a different VED rate as the fuel type and hence emissions are different? Not sure in that one?

Lets hope so or he has found a car that can run on diesel and petrol - if the car was purchased new, surely the garage have registered it incorrectly with the DVLA?

What do the details on the V5 say Ron? That's the important bit. On the first page it should state it is a diesel (taxation class and type of fuel boxes), the model, etc, etc.

If the details on the V5 are correct, then it is that the DVLA have made a mistake when uploading the details onto their database which everybody else accesses. If this is the case, then contact the DVLA and they should be able to amend the database as they will see the discrepancy once alerted to it.

Sorry, I missed that we are not taking about the V5 at this stage, yes thats the important thing but if it doesn't match the car they will still need to inspect the car to make it is what it is if that makes sense.

Is there a tax difference between 335d and i I wonder

Im sure there is a tax difference- the Diesel is only 145g Co2 - the V5 does show Taxation class as Diesel - it seems that 335i description is the culprit!

So are you saying that the V5 is correct apart from it stating the model as a 335i, not a 335d?

Yes

Vin No is correct
Taxation class is correct

It may be correct, as strictly speaking it IS a 335i, just a 335i diesel.

Sounds like a mistake was made when uploading details to the database, ie, petrol 335i not a diesel 335i.

Is there mention of 4WD on the V5?

Ron wants to cross the i’s and dot the d’s
You changed it and it's still wrong! :poke: :headbang:
It was almost funny but you buggered it up

"Ron wants to dot the i's and cross the d's"

There no thanks required

If you have the original bill of sale preferably with the dealers details and model and vin info then send a copy to the DVLA to request a change. I imagine the DVLA will need proof the vehicle is what you say it is. I would get it changed if only if you come to sell privately as it could put a buyer off.

Tim.

All the original papers from the Dealers when we bought it are100% correct - it also shows the correct nomenclature on invoices for services/mot etc.

It was only yesterday when getting a new insurance quote that it became an issue, The Agent Insisted it was a Petrol Car and could only price the quotation as such.

I now have to phone on Monday when the underwriters office is open and explain once again !
