*DUMB QUESTION ALERT* How to remove ariel

Surely this should be the easiest thing in the world to do? I've bought a stubby (finally) but I can't unscrew the standard ariel. No matter how hard I try it just won't budge. I'm twisting it so much that I'm worried the base will twist off.

I think I remember reading that someone had a similar issue but I've searched and can't find it anywhere. Is there a knack to doing this or something?

'twas me that had the privilege.

Good luck!

try a little releasing oil, with rag to keep it off the paint, and twist.

i finally got my boss to buy a stubby and he had the same thing

Maybe try heating it up a little with a hairdryer and use mole grips - or good old rubber gloves, and make sure your unscrewing it in the right direction.

I had the same problem removing my S2000 aerial - i swear they put some threadlock on it, however the one on my Z4 came off easily, and i now have the S2k aerial in its place - not as short as the stubby but better then stock, until i get a chance to buy a new one.
