DTC or not to DTC

What are the preferences in relation to DTC,

Anyone prefer going a little crazy and turning it off for more eventful driving in the current climate we're having at the moment?

After only owning the Zed a few weeks I've went a bit tail happy on a few occasions and ruining the guilty pleasure of a little fun

the DTC kicks in, just wondering what most prefer to have on their daily commute :driving:

leave it on. but tbh most of my driving is either 10 mins to waitrose so no tail happy time or motorway where im driving at a slighlty red shifted national speed limit so i want all the help i can get if it steps out.

How is this different then holding the DTC button for 10 seconds?

I tend to drive most of the time with one press. So the car moves and is fun but I don't have to be on full alert all the time.

When out driving for fun off off off completely press and hold and the fun starts.

So it's off completely by holding - thought I read that right in the manual. It fairly stopped me in my tracks spinning out on a downhill corner I didn't expect the assistance :driving:

So what does just the dtc off do compared to the 10 second hold. I've either had it on or off all together

As long as you know its off and have a little RWD experiences its really not that bad. Most z4s have big rear rubber and they are not the most powerful car in the world. As long as you dont go from nothing to all of it. You can modulate the power and get a little movement.

Obviously do this if you comfortable and in the correct conditions. And yes the systems are there to keep you safe. But we should all really be able to drive a car without it doing these things for us. If you have an ABS sensor fail the dtc wont be working and you dont want to be that scared of your car you cant drive it!

dsc&dtc off in the wet can be pretty tricky especially if you have an LSD (remember, with an lsd you have more traction, but if you loose grip, it's on both wheels, on on one as can be the case with no lsd.)

Loosing grip in the rain is also more of an on/off feeling. if the rear breaks loose, it really goes and there is not much/less you can do about it (you generally need a lot of road to correct it if possible).
On the dry it's less of a big deal imho

On normal drives I always have it on. The esp/dct is also way less intrusive with the LSD in place (one of my main reasons on why the LSD was pretty much my first mod back in 2011); it allows for more sideways action because it doesnt see the huge rpm difference between left&right in corrolation with the steering angle.
I turn it of on spirited drives in the dry when I want to fool around :roll:

I thought you had to press the DTC button to activate the Dynamic Traction Control? With it not pressed you just have normal traction control which cuts in earlier.

Everyday use - All on, Drop The Clutch - DTC, Triangle with exclamation mark - Why I bought the car!! The car is free, the acceleration is sharper, gears are more responsive, you are driving the car, without a computer keeping you alive.

I refuse to waste money, but I am determined to wear out the budget tyres that came with my alloys, before the summer, and for that its OFF OFF OFF. Plenty of near ditch, brown trouser time!

I was under the impression that it is always on unless you turn it off.

I may be wrong though - I frequently am as I am constantly reminded by my wife!

You are right - it's when you start pressing buttons it all get's mired in BMW 3 letter acronyms .
