DTC Off - Does it actually do anyting!?

From my interpretation of the owner's manual, and my own experiences driving in deep snow:

Start the car - DSC on, DTC off, no lights in dash. Full stability control functionality. Overall vehicle stability is the priority in this mode.

Press DTC button briefly - DTC lights up yellow in tach, DTC turns on, which allows the wheels to spin more which is necessary in snow or mud. Otherwise, with DTC off, the stability control would cut the engine power at the first sign of wheel slip, screwing up your chances of building up some speed. Some stability control features are still active, such as the yaw sensors, etc, but forward momentum is a higher priority in this mode.

Press DTC button briefly with DTC on - DTC light goes out, DTC turns off. Same as when the car is first started.

Hold DTC button for a little while - triangle with exclamation point and circle around it lights up yellow in the tach, and all stability control functions are disabled. No electronics will be assisting or intervening in your driving.

Ah, so DTC in a way could be seen as a DSC mode?!

Ie, standard the car runs DSC on (no lights in dash) and rules over stability and traction control.

Press the mode button and the DSC mode is changed so that traction control is less rigourously enforced, this is DTC "on" mode, with a light to say the DSC is in "DTC mode"

Hold the mode button and the DSC is simply turned off, with a combined light to show the DTC light and the DSC light.

Thanks

Yeah, I think I would agree with that... :D It is confusing though because the one is normally "on" and the other is normally "off".

No lights in tach = Car in stability control mode. Stability is top priority. No wheel slip or fishtailing allowed.
DTC light only in tach = Car in special traction control mode, with some stability control functionality. Forward momentum is top priority. Wheel slip allowed as well as some fishtailing.
Triangle light only in tach = No electronic assistance, no helpful interventions to keep the car out of trouble.
