DTC button and indicator lamp.

Can someone help me with some information relating to the function of the above.
When the ignition is turned on the DTC indicator should flash on to check the bulb?
When driving and the DTC button is pressed the DTC lamp should come on and the orange triangle lamp should also come on?
This is how I believe the system should work and how I rember it worked.
On my car a UK spec 57 plate I have recently had to have the Vanos unit changed and not I dont get the above activites only the orange triange on pressing the DTC button.
Could the DTC funtions be related?

Have you tried planting your foot to the floor whilst exiting a corner? The results should tell you whether the "fun kill" DTC systems are operating correctly :wink: as should the blinking indicator.

If you hold it for more than a split second it should light up permanently on the dash indicating the system is disabled.. (I call this crash-mode).

& yes it will light up when you first put the ignition on, for a second or so but it then goes off before you start it.

If it stays on when you start it, there may be a fault. (Just checked & mine definitely doesn't).

& as tj says, I don't need the light to tell me when mines on, the balance at the rear end is so different I could tell you with my eyes closed.

Time for a donut, just for testing purposes obviously?
