DSP sound - what does this mean?

hi guys.
sorry for all the questions today, just that i need to make a decision on this beemer today and the owner doesnt seem to know much about it (less than me in fact!)

i like the sound of the carver audio system.

the guy has said that his stereo is a DSP version.

does this mean that it is a carver?

if not, what does it mean?

cheers again!

No, DSP is a generic abreviation for Digital Sound Processing, where the software takes a stereo signal and processes it into multi-channel to artificially reproduce the feeling of a jazz club, concert hall, etc... and/or to equalize the bandwith for different types of music.

What model year is the car? Older Z4s with DSP have a very different set up than more recent ones.

True, they went from a real digital signal processor to an analog (see cheaper) device. I found this out when I was trying to install an iPod adapter.
