DSP questions

Hi guys,

I'm fairly new to the forum and I've been searching for the last half an hour. :(

Basically, how do I know if my car has DSP? With all the extra sound settings? I assumed because I have the 10 speaker Carver setup, I would have DSP.

Is this sometimes not the case?

Can someone tell me how I can check?

DSP is only on the "Top Hi-Fi" (Carver) system. There are two different 10 speaker systems, the other being "Hi-Fi", only the the Top Hi-Fi is Carver. How do you know you have Carver? I thought the presence of the equalisation settings (church, jazz, concert) meant DSP, but now I don't think so based on this page from WDS (both Hi-Fi and Top Hi-Fi have vehicle specific equalising). It rather looks like the presence of the speed dependent volume change settings is the easiest-to-tell sign of DSP. You can tell by the type of amp too, as shown in one of my other posts. In addition, the DSP amp will have a coax connection for the CD player.

Unfortunately, the referenced WDS page has mangled the speaker location descriptions, so it's accuracy regarding equalising and speed dependent volume could be questioned. To further confuse things, if you pull the build sheet for my car (search this forum for url and login instructions to get yours), it says "Hi-Fi Professional System DSP". Yet I know based on my amp's part number I have Top Hi-Fi. Presumably the build sheet for the mid level system will just say "Hi-Fi System" or maybe "Hi-Fi Professional System"? Maybe someone who knows they have the mid-level system could check their build sheet? It'd be good to have an authoritative method to differentiate the two systems.
 
So confusing and none the wiser.

I have the dsp option on the nav screen and loads of speakers and it's LOUD!!!

some cars have big woofers behind the seats (as mine) whereas some have storage holders instead. But whether this means I have the carver system?
 
I've figured it out now.

I have the upgraded speaker system, without the DSP.

Oh well, still sounds pretty awesome!

My spec sheet says "S677A - HIFI SYSTEM PROFESSIONAL - HiFi system Professional DSP"

It has graphic equalizer settings and gets louder with speed. :driving:

Thx. The fact that it says DSP means you have Top Hi-Fi, despite the word "Top" not appearing anywhere. :thumbsup: Sez me, but still somewhat confused. :? I'm asking for the option number and description for non-DSP systems.
