I have recently bought an E85 3.0i and am loving it.
I just had a quick question about the stereo. The current head unit makes a slightly odd ticking sound (coming from inside the unit rather than out of the speakers) for the first 3-4 tracks of a CD. It's almost like the CD isn't spinning straight and skimming against something (although there is no sign of damage on any of the CD's i've tried). This happens with all CD's and I have cleaned the head. Basically something isn't right and I want to change it.
The issue is I have DSP, and was wondering if I changed the head unit does it matter if the replacement comes from a car with DSP or not? I know if you get into the info level of the head unit (holding down the "note" key whilst you power up) you can scroll round to the DSP setting and mine is on 1. Is this programmed into the h/u or is it just a message coming from the amp?
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
