DSP identification.

There seem to be a lot of posts about this but I'm still unclear on whether I have it or not.
I'm guessing I don't: 07 Z4M coupe
I have 6 speakers 2 behind seats 2 in doors and the 2 tweeters.
Cd changer, Nav screen and cd stereo with no display or writing (business etc) ok it.

This should mean I don't have DSP from what I've gleaned?

I'm trying to order adapters for an aftermarket stereo that's why I'm asking.

Thanks all.

Look in the boot. If there is a black amp next to the battery, you have DSP. If there isn’t, you don’t.

That's not quite right. There's 2 amped setups, only one with DSP. Both setups have subs in place of the cubby holes which are fairly obvious so I suspect it's the basic 6 speaker setup.

Every day is a school day.

You probably have two behind the seats, two at drivers/ passenger feet and two tweeters at the top of the doors/window...that's 6 in total. The Door Grilles are Blanks.

If you have storage cubbies behind the seats you have the basic 6-speaker set up
If you have speaker grilles over the cubbies you have a 10-speaker set up and an amp in the boot.
If the amp has diagonal cooling fins you have the BMW HiFi (non-DSP) system
If the amp has lateral cooling fins you have the “Top HiFi” DSP system

A word of caution - the roadster amp is located in the battery cavity, whereas the coupe amp is mounted on the rear firewall (I think, or is this just the “M”?).

I have the cubby holes so thankfully that solves it. Didn't realise the grills were blanks. Surprised those weren't a standard speaker location.

Cheers all. That simplifies things a lot.
