DSC warning lights, am I correct?

Amber handbrake and DSC warning lights came on yesterday and were a bit intermittent today.

Code read gives a 5E20 code, which points to a failure on Pressure Sensor 1. No other codes present.

Live parameters of the 2 pressure sensors shows one at 6.8 bar resting and one at -1.5 bar resting, both rise when pedal is pressed as expected.

So, seems number one is faulty! I assume this is a replace part at the lovely cost of £100ish from a dealer?

Perhaps, they all seem to be rebuilds as all show the ATE casting marks on the metal case (if the photos are to be believed)

It would irritate me no end buying a cheap part and it failing again though! :roll:

Looks like it's the sensor to me. Not a fan of cheap parts either, but that said the genuine ones are best of a £100 from a dealer so chancing £20 on something that's so easy to whip in and out might be worth it.

Pretty much the same logic as myself there, I generally always use OEM or equal parts. However with such a small part and being easily accessible, I reckon I might take a punt on an eBay part. Shall decide tomorrow, when I get dealer prices with discount

Hi, did replacing your pressure sensor 1( from ebay) fix your problem?
I also have 2 warning lights on ,both orange 1 triangle and 1 brake light permanently on, with 1 bleep sound whilst pulling away.

Changed pressure sensor 1 as my scanner suggested, using ebay item under £20 , hey presto all is well.No alarms or dash lights, was an easy install and no need to bleed or top brakes fluid.

Hey Paolo is it simply just a case of unplugging the part and putting the new one in? No fluid leaks out?

I've had this problem very intermittently - it would beep and lights come up with the error in scanner but after I restart the car, it'd be gone for.. months. Might get the parts ready for when it's not so intermittent

Yes, you just first unplug from the sensor, then very quickly unscrew the pressure sensor using your finger to stop brake fluid escaping.Now install the new unit. Please check out this youtube video

I had the same problem for a while - Pressure sensor 2 in my case. Swap the connections and test again to make sure they haven't been plugged in the wrong way around otherwise you might be swapping out the wrong sensor.
I opted for the cheap ebay one (£13). Figured if it lasts some time then it will still work out alot cheaper than OEM prices! Covered about 1k miles so far and not any issues.

So, to answer this as I never did...

Bought an ebay replacement, the day after I ordered it the lights went off and have not come back on since. ISTA-D is also now showing the correct values for both the pressure sensors.

Perhaps a bit of contact cleaner was all they needed after all!
