Hi there chaps, so I've read a couple of similar topics but didn't quite find exactly what I was looking for so please excuse if I repeated a topic might've missed it..

So two days ago I was reversing my Zed into its parking spot which is on a very slight incline ( it's was raining so it was wet) the wheels spun and the car stalled.. When I turned it back on the DSC, run flat indicator and brake system lights were on and are still on. I did also notice today that the hill start assist doesn't seem to be working at the minute either..

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as when I called the bmw chaps all I got was "don't know we need to run diagnostic which is £60"..

Thanks D.. :headbang:

Unfortunately these days the first step to any fault finding is to scan the vehicle for fault codes.
Each warning light can mean anything up to a hundred different faults!

I would personally say you should start off by finding someone who has the correct equipment to read off the fault codes (and preferably fault descriptions as well) before going any further.

Either that or bite the bullet and get it in for a Diagnostic/Fault finding session at your local BMW specialist.

Ok so my mate works at a Vauxhall garage and managed to run diagnostic which was reccomended, the error code 5E4E which is apparently DSC/ABS ECU needs recalibrating came up and no other, he couldn't do it there and said he didn't know enough about BMWs to attempt any further...

Anyone know if this is a major job or a quick fix? Also he said it would be fine to keep driving but ABS / DSC wouldn't be working, not that I don't trust him but you're all SME's so value your opinions..

I had exactly the same situation 3 weeks ago, same warning lights on my dash as you.... took it to my local bmw dealer fearing the worst, told them i just wanted a diagnosis and the fault code and i'd take it from there. Left it with them and received a call about 45 mins later saying they had reset the steering angle sensor... paid 79 quid and had no problems since.

Yea so took my zed in today, sa,medetail for me steering angle sensor 30 mins later and £40 and it was all sorted.

Not sure why this happened but all sorted thankfully was dreading having to replace DSC unit..
