NO more spongy pedal!!!

I hate it when jobs like this go on forever and presumably without any solution . So frustrating . Well done and i`m sure this post will come in handy for someone in the future .

Cheers - nothing worse than when you find someone has had the same problem as you online about 3 years ago and never returned to share the resolution

This should be the same solution for any BMW that has the pump with pressure sensors built in. So some E46, E90s etc.

Not showing anything there for me... is it a setting on the forum maybe?
Not that I'm aware of. :idunno:
Are you using PC or Mac? Laptop/tablet/phone? What browser?

Hello all Im hoping someone can help me with the issue I'm having similar to this post but on a 07 e90 335i. This issue first started when my MSD80 module went out and I bought a used MSD81 which was later installed lighting up a yellow brake light and abs and TC light so I decided to return that and buy a new module with a new CAS with it. the install was perfect but the lights stayed behind. Later on I got it scanned giving me a two codes for wheel speed sensor front right as well as 5dd0 and 5dd2 so I replaced the wheel speed and I got a code for 5E43 94c7 and 94C2 for a steering column and steering angle sensor so I replaced the entire column and codes went away leaving me with 5dd0 and 5dd2. So yesterday I purchased a used DSC unit part number 6778236 and replaced it today and bled it from the unit itself, the brakes feel fine except the codes are still there along with the lights from before. Any ideas on what to do next the brake doesn't go all the way down as well as no leaky lines the brake res had always been topped off as well and no loss in fluid. any ideas?

You might have gone a bit excessive replacing all that stuff. You just needed to recalibrate the steering sensor and the DSC using INPA or DIS.

Did you code the new DSC?

[ref]wolverine2k[/ref], yes i recalibrated the steering angle sensor to 0 degrees using a snap on zeus scanner when I go to recalibrate the DSC unit it fails saying there might be a leak or faulty dsc unit or air in the system which I don't think there is since it got bled as well as no leaks I can see when I replaced the unit I took my computer off the unit and swapped it to another abs block so not too sure

What about the master cylinder?

have not touched the master cylinder at all

A failing master cylinder is the only reason I can think of to be honest. Hope someone else can suggest something to you. They're fairly easy to replace.

So if anyone in the future finds this thread - you can swap your pump from a latter 3 series as long as the pump pattern is identical. 6790146 worked for me - should work for you too.

This sounds like exactly the issue I'm having, swapped MC's and still a spongy/soft pedal.

How easy was it to swap the pump/electronics around between the old and new DSC units?

Very easy once you've removed the unit, I think it was 4 screws and then just pulls apart. The most annoying part about it all is the amount of brake fluid that leaks everywhere when you pull the DSC unit.

Thats good to hear, I can see the 4 screws. I'm assuming there is a connector or similar under it and it doesn't need soldering or anything like that?

Thanks for the help

You'll need to pull the DSC out, you can't change it in situ. Make sure you get the flare nut wrench to take off the brake lines, have some brake fluid ready and follow the INPA bleeding process. Don't get any brake fluid on your paintwork.

The connector on the DSC is a plug. You need to pull the square part that's protruding away from the body and the plug falls off pretty much.

Sorry, last question, when you say pump pattern, are you meaning the pipe inputs and labelling?
