DSC fault codes

I have read the codes and searched so found that it looks like someone fixed it with a cheap abs sensor (don’t know where that is yet but that is the next step).

Resetting the code just comes back straight away after going into second gear so me hoping that a low battery might have caused it seems unlikely.

What is the opinion re the below please :788328F4-47D3-4CD0-BADD-E00564A505FD.jpeg

So that is pointing to both front left and rear right wheel ABS sensors being dodgy.
However, am I right in thinking yours is a facelift? If so, it is also worth checking the yaw sensor (lateral acceleration sensor in your second pic). People have been known to replace them with a much cheaper pre-facelift version which can cause all kinds of weird symptoms.
Should be able to get at it by unbolting the drivers seat and carefully tilting it without disconnecting the electrical plug, to give room to look under the carpet. It sits under a bracket on the rear of a cross-member just in front of the carpet join. If it is a black plastic one you're fine, but if its a silver metal one its a pre-facelift.

Yes, mine is 2007 3.0si.

Car is not going anywhere at the moment after a tyre blowout so will have plenty of time to start looking at this.

Will check where the carpet join is so I know to move the seat far forward or backwards for the tilting.

The car had a BMW fitted new DSC in 2017 with a total bill of 3.5k for some other bits, so I don't think anyone would have done cheap repairs as such.

If it is the black plastic one, should I just get some sensors and pray?

If BMW did it and it cost that much then pretty certain it'll be the correct one, but it was worth a stab.
In isolation it seems the wheel sensors are at fault, but I confess all the talk of 'valve relay' has me lost. (Better to admit my shortcomings than lead you up the wrong route)
My suggestion would be to speak to [ref]colb[/ref], as I'm pretty sure he is more educated on this system than I am. At the very least he has more practice than me in interpreting the code readers.

I think (Carly can be good and bad at this) your second code is one I’ve seen before

It’s a mismatch between your steering angle sensor and the data from the yaw sensor

It’s worth resetting your sas using the procedure first outlined by zedebee …

I’ll find the link, using inpa and sys32

Hopefully Ben (Zedebee) isn't too far from you anyway?

Thanks chaps, I will check all of that out and see if colb can assist if need be.

Carly can reset all codes but I guess it doesn’t actually reset the fault itself which I assume is the second procedure of the Sas reset.

It is interesting that the car had been standing for months without running, and the battery was hardly turning the starter. That is all good now after the 100 mile collection run but the issue seems to stick even after reset of the faults.

I don’t know where Ben is, I am near Gatwick.

Need to sort the wheels first now as with the blowout I can’t move the car either.

@[ref]PVR[/ref], if there is anything I can do to help, I’m near Farnham.

Cross posting - that is a fantastic offer - I will certainly take you up on that as I am only an hour or so away.

Well, when someone is a Leg End we have to do our bit to help them.
Call it care in the community. :poke: :D

Would it be worth getting a new battery for it anyway, just in case its not up the job anymore after sitting dormant for so long?

Just caught up with this thread and noticed I was mentioned to seek an opinion.
First step would be to change out the wheel speed sensors that are reporting as error codes, since the vehicle has been stood for a longish period would be prudent to pull the sensors out and see if the reculter ring it takes its reading from are clean and rust free.
I would agree as already mentioned to realign the Yaw sensor uising INPA or another scanner capable of doing it.

Thanks colb - rust is an issue on all exposed areas so would not be surprised. Any suggestion on where to get some sensors from? I will YouTube where they actually are as I don’t know.

Inkey$ - battery is not a bad shout. It is not old but as the car has only done 200 miles since October 2021 it will have suffered without a charger on it.

At the moment, I only have a Carly. Is that capable or do I need to get another scanner?

Not sure if Carley can do it, INPA and BMW Scanner 1.4 on a laptop can.
Up marklet Diagnostic Tablets like Autel and Launch can do iot as well as code replacement modules but they come in at a hefty price.

Apologies - somehow I have two threads on this one.

I will continue from this one: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=140091
