Would it be worth checking to see if the other yaw sensor works as it is? May need a bit of plug jigging, but if it did then you’d be minted!Usel said:I believe you have a hot air station?
This is all difficult and fiddly, you really want a digital microscope. Heat up the chip and lift it off. Then check the rest of the chip to see if there are any shorts.
If no shorts then take a gamble and buy this yaw sensor:

Steal the chip off that yaw sensor and put it on the e85 yaw sensor circuit board.

Definitely worth trying it first to see if it works.
I'm not electronics expert but I think the chip that has blown is processing signal inputs and then passing them onto the bigger chip to process. So imo the bigger chip is the one that needs to be compatible with the car that it's in.
After looking inside the LCM modules I was expecting there to be differences between a Xenon and Halogen circuit board. They were both exactly the same. There must be different software on one of the chips or maybe they are exactly the same and it's just programming from insta or similar that you select the options you want. There is a seperate circuit board for the actual switches you use to operate the lcm which does have differences. Maybe you can use any LCM as long as you change the circuit for the switches you need.
I know....... I am waffling![]()

Indeed. Only problem is it's a straight MOT failure as the lights stay on.bigwinn said:It kills all ABS and DTC functions
Which some would argue is fun!

Although there is an MOT tester in darkest Norfolk, who ignores the lights if your wife works for them. They also don't notice chunks missing out of tyres, or doing emissions tests (if your wife works for them). Big posh outfit, too. Not a dodgy back-street tester. Ask me how I know?
Didn't help me, unfortunately. Only the seller of my Z3. Cost me £500 for both new yaw sensors (used aswell).bigwinn said:Pondrew said:Indeed. Only problem is it's a straight MOT failure as the lights stay on.bigwinn said:It kills all ABS and DTC functions

I’d never advocate having friendly mot testers on side but when in Rome

MOTed one day with no advisories, next day arrived with me (on a truck) with two completely drowned and rusted yaw sensors. What a coincidence!
