Dropped by the weighbridge at the weekend...

Just curious to know the weight of the car...

Went to my local refuse/recycling depot, as they have a weighbridge there. Not sure of the accuracy, and from what I could see - it seemed to be clicking over to nearest 5kg - but the Z came out at 1460kg, with a full tank of petrol (but minus me in the passenger seat). A little up on the official figures of 1420kg? I'm quite sure my aftermarket exhaust is lighter than the standard one too, and of course - there's that roof! ;)

Is the 1420kg figure a dry-weight? 40kg sounds about right for a tank of fuel (56 litres?) and some oil...
 
Interesting. The fuel would be 41kg, the engine oil, gearbox oil etc. must be at least another 10kg, plus power steering fluid, screenwash, cooling system - must be 60kg in all that lot, so your car does seem fractionally lighter.

BMW claim 1495Kg for the coupe including a 90% full tank, 68Kg for the driver and 7Kg lugage.
Those weights are for a basic car with no options though, I think UK cars come with electric seats, rain sensors and an alarm as standard on top of the 'basic spec'.

Actually I have no idea what your referring too other than my comment about hands.....
 
Hey Andy, a few of the CSL owners on MTorque (BM3W) have had their cars weighed recently. The average for a CSL with aircon and xenons and half a tank of fuel but no driver seems to be 1440kg. If the figure you got at the weighbridge is resonably accurate then your car compares pretty well. :)
 
That's certainly interesting to know! I think the official book figure of the CSL is 1385kg? Interesting.

Certainly if they're coming out at 1440kg, and mine was reading 1460kg before I did the seats (which should have lost me 20-25kg in my estimates), then that's very close!

Looks like I might have to pop down the weighbridge again this weekend now the seats have been swapped, and get another reading :evil:
 
Well, actually probably not, as they don't balance on the scales too well. And I could weigh myself, then myself carrying a seat.... but that sounds like too much effort.

Besides, it gives me just another excuse for a drive :D
