DRL Halo's

I read that you can set facelift xenons so that the halo ring is on during daytime running...

Is this correct and if so does it need to be done by BMW?

Not to my knowledge.

My mate owns Autotechnics in Doncaster (BMW indi). We had it plugged into the computer the other week to set up all the options. There was an option for DRL UK and US. Setting them to on just made the difference that when you had main (dipped headlights on) they would turn off automatically when you turned off the engine and it didnt bleep at you to say they were left on... I guess the dipped lights are the DRL... Unfortunately :(

Thats strange as my car was set from the factory so that if you left the dipped on they go off when the car is turned off.

I had the DRL enabled when i got my car programmed for varius other things... all it does it leave the halo ring on all the time.... even when the light switch is set to the "O" position.

didnt see the point of that so turned it back off..... what i should have done was get my ligth sensor adjusted for my auto lights as my dipped seem to be on even in sunlight!

Hmmm, that is strange.. Does it increase the brightness of the Halo ring once it is set to DRL as it does on the 3 series etc? Would be interested in getting it done if it does..

x2.

Althought i'd be interested in seeing anyone who has managed to replace theirs with led's which light the full halo... i have tried 2 different types now and neither lit the ring as well as the stock bulb.

As the halos are already quite white (or even blue), what happens when you put leds? Are they too blue? About the brightness, were the leds smd?
