Thinking about doing a driving holiday along the west coast of Scotland, doe anyone have any good roads to recomend and places to stay?

Pretty much anywhere up the west coast will be spectacular just keep the water on your left and you wont go wrong. A few crackers here

The Bealach na ba to Applecross is a amazing and if you keep on going Up past Ullapool towards Durness there are bit that look like the moon.

Of course what i should be saying is "don't bother it is not worth it" and keeping it to ourselves :P

Post pics when you do come

hi mate,

it all depends how on much you want to spend really and what you want to do? Give me as much info as possible, and I'll fire some info :)

Sorry it's taken so long to respond, I was away a few days after this and then forgot i put the post up. Not looking to spend too much, just me and a mate. I want to include Oban as i've heard it's amazing but apart from that i haven't spent much time looking into it and have no idea where to go.

I'm looking at spending 4 - 5 days with the main priority being driving some of the best roads in the UK. Obviously any places I should stop off and see while doing this would be good and break up the journey

I've recently returned from a week in the West Highlands. We stayed near Fort William, which isn't really anything to write home about, but it's a good base camp for exploring the surrounding areas. I'd recommend Oban for a day or two, and I'd definately visit the distillery; it's £6 for a very interesting tour that includes a drink of whisky and a complementary whisky glass, which retails in the gift shop for £6!

We hired a farmhouse for six so I can't comment on hotels, although there are plenty of them in Fort William and Oban.

As for roads; the A830 Road to the Isles from Fort William to Mallaig is a good drive, and gives you access to the beaches south of Mallaig and the fishing port itself. The B863 at the bottom of Glen Coe was recommended to me by my (ZX-10R owning) colleague, but I didn't get chance to try it.
