Putting to one side the fact that it's a closed course and there are "safety barriers" at dotted intervals, this is one of the most impressive displays of driving skill I have ever seen! The speed is unreal.

Interestingly, this is the second attempt in the revised car and it's even faster than the first effort.
It is worth watching effort number one in the older Impreza as the driver has a MASSIVE moment, that I think is most aptly described by the phrase "squeaky bum-time"...the moment can be seen on at the beginning of the above vid - starting about 1:00 in.
Is this incredible skill, is he driven by an unbridled sense of danger - good or bad..? Personally, I love it when anyone sizes up an almost insurmountable goal and intelligently says "I'm going to do this" and gets one with it.
