Those window seats above look over the lake see picture in earlier post

Thanks Hilly, June needs to hurry up now!

We had tea on the balcony at the Vyrnwy Hotel today. The Sun was shining, watching jet fighters flying low over the lake. The food and service was first class.
Well worth a visit when staying at the hotel,is the bird hide which is by the cycle hire near the far end of the dam.
The variety of different wild birds we viewed today from the hide was amazing, and it's free as is the car park.

Thanks for the tip off about the bird hide maxman. I'll definitely try and check it out.

Any other recommendations whilst I am in the area?

If RAF Valley are doing some low level training it's one awesome sight, scares the crap out of you if you see them late

When you go to Lake Vyrnwy be sure you do the drive to Bala Lake over the Hirnant Pass it's an unclassified road so not suitable in winter or high speed driving but it's stunning and worth the every minute. We came back that way today as we wanted to book a night in the Lake Hotel for my birthday in April. Here are a few pics.

Last Wednesday we went in the opposite direction .The road from Lake Vyrnwy to Bala is 9 mile of single track road with passing places. We only met one small van in the entire length. As you say the road stunning ,with twists and blind brows with big drops if you go over the edge.I would not fancy driving this at weekends and meeting loads of oncoming traffic unless you like going backwards.
