Driving position doesn't feel low / sporty

I've had my car now nearly 8 months and whilst I am enjoying it, one thing that has been bugging me is the driving position just doesn't feel special or sporty. I've got the seat all the way down as far as it can go but I still feel too high up in the cabin.

The strange thing is, my old MR2 Turbo wasn't as low as the Z4, but every time I got in that thing the driving position just felt special and sporty and much lower to the ground - this is somthing I just don't feel with the Zed.

Does anyone else feel the same? I'm wondering if aftermarket seats will solve the issue and if so any recommendations?

That's strange. :?

Z4s always feel low and sporty to me, although I haven't had an MR2!

I can relate to that. This was my Mk2 Rev2 N/A and I was basically sat on the floor in that. I expected similar from the Z4 but haven't yet found a seat position I'm happy with after about 4 months of ownership.

I had the mark 1 MR2 and the seating position was low and felt really sporty too also great handling car which helped the feel, unlike the other guys I also feel the the z4 has a sporty feel and a great driver position even if the standard seats dont fit the bill of sporty as there is not enough support when driving with enthusiasm.

My Mr2 wraps around me, you feel like part of the car when driving it.
Now I have fitted the M sport seats, the Z feels much better, than when I had the non sports seats.
I feel nice and low down in both car's and both feel special

Driving position is not the best with the standard seats, I've also swapped in m sport seats, the position feels better with these.
If you have the standard seats then the options are basically find a seat of m sports or an after market set that sit lower.

Agree with the mr2 comments, I've not sat in any car that feels as if your ass is right on the floor as much as the Toyota, that said the zed with msport seats does still feel low, just not as low than the mr2

Feel like I'm sat on the floor in mine, but then I do daily an astra that feels like its on stilts... I think the M Sport seats probably do help

I can relate to what you are saying. It doesn't feel as low down as the MX5 but then it doesn't feel as go-karty either. So perhaps that explains it.

I've always thought the seats and sitting position in the E85. are spot on for a sports car. Any lower and I would have no idea where the bonnet ended. That from some one who is 6ft 4.

I can't get into an MR2 BTW. :P

Depends what seats you have tbh; I fitted E46 M3 seats and the base of the seats are an inch or two higher than the SE seats they replaced, meaning you don’t sit as low. Driving position is still ok for me, although I am a short arse!

I fitted some merc slk seats in my car. They are much lower than the m sport seats I took out. Problem is I can’t see much of the bonnet. Don’t mind that tho as me other half doesn’t like driving it because of that

Coming from an Alfa 159 and a MiTo QV fitted with Sabelt carbon buckets, I found the seating position in the Z4 surprisingly low relative to everything else in the cockpit. The Alfa's both had the issue of not being able to drop the seats low enough. At 6"1 with a relatively tall torso, I do appreciate the ability to drop the seat to the floor.

First testdrive I had I thought I couldn't quite get low enough. Sliding the seat forward and then dropping it another inch or so did the trick, as I was up against the bulkhead with the base apparently.

I think I must have been really spoiled with the MR2 then and expecting too much, maybe the dash and steering position is higher up in the Z4 too? At least I have confirmed I am not going crazy and other people have noticed too!! I've already got the electric M Sport seats in the car so I might look into aftermarket seats which sit lower

Well if you do replace them you'd get a fair bit back by selling your electric M-Sport seats on here!
