Ok friends , i have a ferry booked for 10am tomorrow with mrs w & terrier :)
means leaving home near manchester around 3-45am & 300 miles drive to the south coast for 8-30/ 9am .
snowing here just now & appears to be sticking , mrs w in a flap as when we booked it her idea of a easter break didn't involve snow shoes, gloves & de-icer :P
so fill me in with your on the spot weather report . M6 / M40 / M42 /M25 / M23

Start real early and take care. Sure the Mways will be passable but without much traffic that time of day, could be a case of 30mph till a snow plough drives passed then follow it.

Have a good one. 8)

Thanks , I do the run at least 7/8 times a year but last few years the traffic has been so bad i have to pick ferry times that suit me driving through the early hours
Just a pity the BMW's are staying home & we have a fully loaded van to do the miles . although it beats the aged transit i got rid of at xmas  that was a pikey's picnic when the port police wanted a look inside :P

Just rain at the northern stretch of m25! But snow forecast for 6am I think down here

Should be M25 6am/7am ish ?

IG8 is my postcode just inside the top of m25. IG8 on bbc weather shows light snow at 6am, 5am is sleet. Never normally anything major around this way, the m25 will be well gritted, you should be fine.

Mission accomplished but it was epic stuff & not one i ever want to repeat , could barely make it off the drive at 3-30am . followed by 4 hours at 60mph on the motorway with no sign of tarmac or lanes  it finally eased around Crawley for the last hour lost count around 14 of the banged up cars & breakdowns , Stafford / Birmingham was pure white knuckle ride at 5am , sheer madness & not surprised to hear the motorway was closed a while later :?
Just lucky mrs w slept most of the way as i was bricking it :|
Now its vino, woodburner & a red sky which bodes well for tomorrow

Glad you got there OK. 'Vino and woodburner' is making me wish I was still doing my French adventures... :)

Good to hear that you are there and OK. Fingers crossed this horrible weather has gone before you make the return trip
