Driving Like a dog

Would welcome other members' views on how my 3.O Coupe is driving. Basically it drives like a basket case. The steering wheel moves constantly (big movement) on anything but the smoothest surface and the car simply doesn't feel planted. The steering also feels like it is heavier to one side. I also get quite a bit of movement from the back of the car. All tyre pressures are accurate and it has just had Hunter 4 wheel alignment. The car is on Eibach's. I am thinking it is the control arm bushes but would appreciate others' thoughts before I take it to a garage.
 
Control are bushes are a week link on these cars especially the 3.0l models. I have just changed mine and its so much better. I had all the same issues as you have i also ditched the runflates a few weeks ago that helped as well.
Also my ARB bushes where screwed as well if your doing the control arms do these and the drop links as well.
 
Thanks guys. It's running on non-run flat Falkens and all at the right pressure, so I thought it must be mechanical. Machine Monkey, thanks for the guidance on the bushes - sounds like the fix it needs. Bit disappointing though as it has only done 26k miles.
 
I had to

- change to non run flats
- lollipops
- ARB bushes
- steering tie rod ends
- drop links fore & aft
- alignment showed up no issues except when lollipops done

Now am much happier, but taken a long time to sort

It's not unheard of and it's not going to cost the earth find a good independent I can recommend 1 in Oxford?

Or if you half handy with spanners you can do them yourself. I did but I did have my brothers lift!!
 
mine does the same..worn bushes for myself.

my last zed did it also but after getting the bushes replaced it was fair bit better but not perfect

But what are the 'right tyre pressures'?

I have had to play around with mine to get the best rid on my Eagle F2's

I ended up with 31 / 33

I was on 33 / 36 which tramlined the car on the slighest bump
 
I am having a similar problem with mine...
I have torqued up the strut tower bolts as they were really loose, fitted new lolly pop bushes, two new falken front tyres, had all 4 wheel alignment. The car feels a lot stiffer and more stable around corner but still having an issue where the steering wheel moving constantly too :(

Try the arb bushes mine where oval and no longer round there must have been al sorts of slop and flex. It could very well be the problem.
 
Wheel balancing made a huge difference on mine... took three different garages to get it right! :headbang:
