Driving harassment

I was on my way back from the Midlands last night approx 2:30am and happened to overtake a Peugeot 106 on empty motorway. We were the only ones on the road. It seemed he didn't like it and came tearing up behind me. I kind of went for a while and then slowed because he seemed to want to prove a point. Then at one point I slowed and stayed in slow lane but then he was neck and neck even going down to like 50 on empty motorway. I didn't want to undertake and so overtook and sped off somewhat, then once again up he came. So eventually I was in the slow lane again with him in front of me and he was on purpose going at like 40 to annoy me. The whole thing wound me up and I felt harrassed. Obviously in the ///M I could have left him for dust if I wanted but I was not prepared to break limits. What do you do about idiots like this?

Nothing you can do. Just let them get fed up and they will eventually. You did the right thing.
Anyway you never know if its the rozzer's trying to do a bit of entrapment, doesn't matter what car it is even a 106.
Quite funny really a little 106 trying to take you on. Laugh it off. Idiots.

That's why I slowed to let him get off and go but he seemed to not allow this. If I had been a woman walking down the street I would have been well scared with this sort of behaviour, I did wander if he would try and follow me home at one point.

I would use hands free and report driving behavior to the police. I be the is known, speeding etc. at that time of night you may be lucky and have a traffic patrol nearby to observe what you are experiencing to then spoil their night. Failing that show them your behind as you smoke off into the distance. Unless of course it was a diesel

tbh.. he probably wanted to "race" you.. when I was a wee nipper in my chavved up 106, I used to try and get faster cars to floor it, as it was "cool" to see and here them leave me for dust - It may have just been that?

Anyways.. you did the right thing obviously, and if he'd have kept coming, I'd have gone to a service station and pulled up near the office under the lights.

Best thing to do Ruby is just slow right down, never speed up and let them overtake and be on their way. If they carry on tailgating then pull into a garage or somewhere well populated and try and get the reg no. This happened to a female friend of mine and she sped up and it ended up being a 5 mile race and she ended up terrified.

Difficult to do on a motorway though if the next junction is some way off.

But I did slow to like 50 and he was in middle lane and also slowed so as he was right next to me, for ages until I got scared and overtook...so I tried to lose him. But then he chased me and caught up and had I gone faster it would have been dangerous and illegal.

He might have been playing the funny f**ker. Best to ignore and not rise to it.

Totally understand the harassed feeling though. It sucks

There are a load of dicks out there ........
I once wittnessed two young "morocan" lads trying to harrass and force a young girl to slow down and stop on the motorway in Holland ..... I was on a bike ..... It was only when I got involved and slowed down and got between them that the lads fucked off a great speed ....

It sucks being a girl out on your own these days ......

Under the circumstances ..... I think you would have been justified in booting it and getting away ..... The expression " I was in fear of my life" gets you out of all kinds of problems these days .... :D

Sounds like undercover rozers to me.

I had the same thing happen a few years ago with a old volvo s40. Ignored them. They eventually sped off. Later see them with lights on!

Pain in the arse, but put the music up and ignore them.

Isn't that classed as entrapment though?

Doesn't seem to bother them!

If you feel threatened, dial 999 from the car and tell them exactly what is happening. If it's unmarked plod they'll get a fearsome bollocking.

Dialling 112 would have been better as they can use your mobile gps signal to pin point your location :driving:
Have to admit I always bite when tapped up whether it's a 106 or an f360. Small mans syndrome I know but I just like the fight, win or lose. Obviously different for the ladies and I think you did the right thing rubes 8)

Rubes, you did the right thing first off... slow down & let them get on with it which is the advice you'll always be given.

As soon as they started stalking, as a woman get on the blower, say you've tried slowing down & ask 999 for advice

If they didn't follow you near where u live, forget it, 99.9% you'll ever see them again in your life

Maybe get a CB radio installed? Next time this happens, put out a call on the waves and see how many lorry drivers come barrelling up behind :D Or does this only happen in old school American movies?
