Driving from San Fran to Santa Monica

Pics, People want pics.

We had a grand time with some of the UK's finest on Monday. :!: Such fun people to spend time with. We do sooooo much appreciate you both for taking time out of your holiday to meet with us.

We had lunch at LAGO at the Santa Monica Promenade and decided to have a drive through the local mountains just north of LA. We headed north and needed to make a short stop to provide some FRS radios so that we could point out some of the sights. Back on the road up Pacific Coast Hwy to Kanan Dume road to Mulholland to Stunt to Saddle Peak to La Tuna road.

Here are some rolling shots. They did not turn out very well though. :(

A few smile factor shots, after the first set of twistys.

We did take a loop road past Malibu lake where they were shooting a movie. Lots of swimsuits.

La Tuna road starts as a two way traffic road and turns into a one way road with banked sets of turns. Big smile factors on that one.

We went to the Hollywood sign for the purpose of getting it logged into a gps for a return visit during the daylight, as we arrived after dark, fighting our way through the LA traffic delayed us a bit. While at the location a thought accured to me. Where is Ginger?

What better place to let your hair down at. Such fun and friendly people you both are. On our way down from the sign we ( Robyn and I ) passed some California wildlife. The Ford following behind slowed down to observe. We feel that you both are very daring people for slowing down to observe. YOU MUST BE CAREFUL WITH THE WILDLIFE SEEN HERE, THE BALCK AND WHITE KITTYS ARE SPOOKED EASILY. We passed a skunk going down the road. I'm glad you did not linger very long. :!:

What a grand afternoon visit with our new friends. Z owners are truly fantastic people.

"Lots of swimsuits" Where's the pictures Bobby boy

:worthless:

The movie location had soooo many California Highway Patrol cars, that we did not want to stop for pics and be thought of being paparazzi.

Note the pasty white skin color. One can see the Brits a mile away... :poke:

You could tell they had been enjoying so top down driving for sure. They had shorts on and Robyn and I were in long pants. Sort of a cool day for us at 70 degrees. More like a heat wave for them.

Brilliant write up and pics Bob. Thanks ever so much - can only see them in small format in my phone so will check on the mac when back. But they look great!

Really wanna do that drive again! Fantastic - and seeing old smelly cat on the way down - nature at it's finest eh.

Brilliant day, great driving and memories, and great new friends.

Ha ha. True. Also not having a roadster for 2 years I got 'driving arm' redness and a comedy sun glass stripe across the face!

2 days left until you go back to Sheffield and your local. You'll have a few stories to tell over a pint or two.
24 hours and we'll be at the airport.

I could cry! Oh well, photo's and memories will be good

You know what they say,
No matter where you have been,
no matter what you have done,
there is no place like home.

Post up when you get home.

Bob, would you adopt me so I can come live with you? I can then live my dream of being a fulltime California tourist. :driving:

Sure, all that needs to happen is to take over payments. You know, take care of aging parents, we do not allow any females under the age of 18 though. :poke: We are so done with that.

Dam Bob, I was hoping to bring the twins with me, I guess I should have mentioned the two 23 year old Swedish Au Pairs that would have been coming along also. :poke:

Two 23 year old nannys to take care of the twins. No wonder you sold the Z, :!: How many inches to the ounce do the nannys get. :tumbleweed:

Congrats BTW.
