Driving along and this fell off!

Hi all,

I was driving along to go and get some lunch and I heard what sounded like something falling off my car. I pulled over to the side of the road and walked back to find number 6 in the link below.

I do have a picture but as photobucket is still broken, I'll have to post it at a later date.

I know it is the flange steady but surely this can just fall off?? There is no sound change in the exhaust and having a cheeky look underneath I couldn't see anything hanging down so the system seems complete still.

I know the bolts here have rusted beyond recognition but I don't mind this as it will soon be coming off for a clutch and DMF change. I will be putting new bolts and nuts in etc

I have a couple of questions however......Is this still ok to drive around for another month or so until I do the work? Has this just fallen off because the bolts holding it together have corroded so badly? Where does the other end bolt up to as surely if the exhaust bolts were shot it should still be attached to the car somehow? Is there a risk of further damage driving along without this attached?

Sorry for all the questions. :D

Just noticed in this post (that I've already posted in! Doh) that the support can easily come off if the bolts have got that bad.

Fingers crossed it'll hold up for a month but I may need to do it sooner than later.

No, the bolts look more like tapered rods. I knew this job was on my list but it might have just jumped a few places up.

Just be sure your wearing a decent leather belt until it's sorted. Worked a treat when the exhaust tried to fall of our Nissan Cherry. :D
