Driving A Zed In The Snow

Hi there - What would be the advice for driving a zed in the snow when it comes to traction control etc - Is it just a question of activating DTC if driving on untreated roads or, black ice or deep slush etc - Cheers.
 
Yep, use DTC so the wheels will slip a bit more. And a very light foot. Don't use the accelerator at all if you can when pulling off - just let the clutch out in first with no accelerator and the car will move off.
 
The biggest effect is tyres and 4WD being better is only true with the right tyres:

I find an auto to be a little more challenging than a manual as you don't have quite as much control over the revs, from experience of a E90 330d auto I found switching all the traction aids off(both stability/traction) worked better and I felt more in control rather than the TC cutting in all the time.
 
I find in a manual I just put it in a higher gear to keep the revs as low as possible whereas with an auto(even using manual mode) I choose a higher gear but it automatically switches to a lower one which makes it rev higher and then you lose traction again.

Depends what 4x4 your in as well. My Nissan Terrano on summer tyres has driven up snow covered hills where a Landrover Defender on AT tyres has not. Same driver...me.

I have driven the new Ford (all wheel drive) and don't rate it, OK on a grass verge or maybe on a field, but found it got stuck quickly once the going gets tough.
