Drivetrain noise...

As the title says... How much is normal drivetrain noise? I swear i keep hearing clunks and rattles but my other half says otherwise? Does anyone else get this? What i hear, it sounds a bit dry, like something could do with greasing etc

I hear my diff whirring quit a lot, it gives a satisfying click when Turing at low speeds tightly. Also councils in gear changes. Assume it's normal as 1) I'm sitting over the box and the diff is right my my arse. Also 2) in my dads cobra the noise is massive due to the same reasons and because it's not soundproofed/ it's much larger to handle power/ because it's older...... Don't know if it's "meant" to be that noisy

Sounds a bit like you are reversing when you are in 1st/2nd at high RPM? I assume this is normal because the few other E85/E86s I have been in have had it, to varying degrees. As mentioned above, you are basically sitting on the whirry bits.

If it's a dry "clunk" when changing from 1st to 2nd or from reverse to 3rd, then you might benefit from getting SI B33 04 08 done: "The differential input flange mating surface with the input drive pinion is insufficiently greased."

Some good points brought up, maybe it is because I'm over the noisy bits, and its not a really a reversing sound but i do :scratchhead: :scratchhead: get that when the car is cold, but i can hear these noises when i go along walled roads or high buildings maybe its just me

Mine has a clunk when pulling away in 1st or reverse too...will see if I can get it on the lift tomorrow and take a look.
