Drivetrain slack

I've read a few threads which mention noise from the drivetrain but cant find anything so far that covers my problem.

Here goes:

I'm hearing strange metallic tapping sound when the clutch engages (sounds like two metal plates hitting each other). This noise also occurs on change over from accelerating to decelerating in 1st or 2nd gear. It sounds like there's some slack in the drivetrain which is either being taken up on acceleration, or subsequently lost on deceleration.

The noise isnt loud, if I have the stereo on, I dont hear it.

Is this normal? Sounds like some slack in the prop shaft? Anyone experienced similar issues?

Cheers

Adam

Is it the same as this noise - http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=30050

If so mine does it too and am going to try and change the propshaft donut and propshaft centre bearing to see if this helps.

Good spot. Yes, it's not as loud, but more or less the same.
Will follow other thread closely!

EDIT: Let me know how you get on with the fix?!
