Just got in the car, when I took the roof down and the windows opened the drivers window made a right old screeching noise, this has happened before so it comes and goes, the seals are regularly treated with NEXTZETT - GUMMI PFLEGE STIFT so the seals are nice and supple, don't think its the motor so unsure what's causing it, any suggestions?

I have not seen the workings of a z4 window system before, but it could well be a build up of dirt and debris in the window guides on the regulator itself (not the seals)

Only real way to see what is going on is to remove the door card and the membrane and see if anything stands out, or see if you can get it to repeat the noise and you will have a better idea of the area it is coming from. Take the opportunity to line up any workings that are accessible whilst you are in there.

Plenty of videos and guides about removing the door card online and on here. Seems a very simple process of 3 or 4 screws and a quantity of pop clips.
 
Dont panic (Mr Mainwaring) itll probably be a bit of gung stuck in the mechanism/seal. Give it a few days itll likely go away.
DONT put anything silicone based on anything to lubricate it, it will smear your windows till the end of time (no exagerration)..
