drivers window motor gone ?

went to drop window and got a loud crunching sound, is that a motor or cable replacment ???, up or down i get the same crunching sound with no movement

Probably just the cable , happened on both z4s I've owned , it's a reasonably easy diy job , just a bit of a faff on .
 
Try soopers Lincoln for full regulator complete about 150 mention the forum an they post for free, an I think either GSF or Euro car parts sell a complete unit, repair kit try eBay

This link is for the passenger side but I'm sure you'll find something similar for the drivers side.

When I did mine I bought the cable replacement for £18 and did the job in about 2 hours, it will depend on what condition the motor and cable loom is in. If the plastic cable spool is broken you'll need the full kit.
