Drivers window made a bang noise and now is FUBAR...

This is a brain prod of all those with some tech know how.

I put my drivers window down today, and when it got to the bottom it made a sharp snap or crack noise and then nothing. When I pressed up or down, the motor whirs but no movement. I drove home with the window open, and when I got home the strangest thing happened. I pressed down (open) on the window switch and the window closed. Once it closed it will not open or close now, motor whirs, but nothing.

Any ideas what the failure is, or should I just let the stealers pull my pants down?

Any advice would be welcomed, and seen as I've only had the car 5 days, it's left me a bit :headbang:

Thanks in advance for any help

Sounds like a dealer job - window regulator. Do a 'search' on here it's quite a regular fault - can be DIY if you're brave.

Don't go to a dealer there's an excellent Indy at Telford, Autotech - speak to Pete. First class guy and service can't recommend too highly

Well I ordered the part Through Sytner BMW in Shirley, came same day and seen as I was on afternoons at work, thought I'd have a punt at fitting it. The old one was terminally FUBAR, and it took me about 2 and half hours start to finish.

The window is now pukka, up n down smoother than a well lubed dirtbird, and my car is back to giving me a twitch in the right place when I drive it. Many thanks to all who have passed on the information, this forum is fantastic
