Driver's window is being obnoxious!

My drivers window has recently starting being a bit of a dick...

it will open just fine any time I ask it to.
However, come time to close it, it does one of three things:

1: opens some more
2: if fully open, does nothing
3: closes

the order in which it does this seems completely random, except for the first time I ask it to close - 99.9% of the time it opens when I first ask it to close.
It does eventually close.. but sometimes that can take a good minute of repeatedly pulling the close trigger whilst swearing at it.

The motor seems perfectly happy - it moves the window without hesitation and doesn't seem to jam at any point.
There's nothing in it's way to cause an anti-trap incident.
Happens with the door open or closed, engine running or not.

Passenger window doesn't appear to be affected.



I've tried various methods of resetting the windows to no avail

motor might be on its way out, the extra load giving a false positive anti trap reaction?

Try some silicone spray in the channels to give some lubrication, at a pinch Mr Sheen works a treat if you don't have any silicone.
While you're at it lubricate the roof joints with the roof at half-cock to give them a drink as well, though use a decent PTFE spray for this not silicone.

Sometimes when putting my window back up, if I move my steering wheel the window goes back down :lol:

Three times today I pulled the switch to put the window up, each time I moved the steering wheel whilst the window was going up the window would go back to its original position. Only when I allowed the window to fully go up before moving the steering wheel would it work properly.

Yeah I have to wait until it's all the way up before I dare touch the wheel :lol:
