Driver's Sport Seat Deflating

Hello All,

I have a 2009 Z4 e89 and a 2008 1 series e78, both have Sports seats with inflatable side bolsters.
The driver's seat on the Z4 deflate within just a few minutes (approx. <5mins) of inflating, the passenger's seat is fine. Both, driver's and passenger's seat on the 1 series function fine.

So, it would seem the driver's side bolsters on the Z4 is defective in one way or another :(

I've done a little online research into the issue, this leads to me to consider replacing both 'Lordosis Pads' in the seat; left & right.

Disassembling the rear of the seat to gain access may break a clip or two along the way, so these will be replaced too.
Does anybody have any experience with this issue and/or repair? or can suggest an online guide.

Any information much appreciated :thumbsup:
 
Is this really worth the bother? :roll:

How many of us inflate/deflate the bolsters a couple of times out of curiosity and then forget about them, I wonder?

Not much point having arguably the best seats in the entire Z4 range if you can't inflate the bolsters is there... :roll:

I have mine very tight, as I'm not a big chap or overly chunky, I would 100% want them repaired if they failed. Selling on as well, you need them working imho.
 
Any update on this? I have found my bolsters also deflate pretty quickly - the car only has 36k on it and no bolster wear, so I'm thinking it's more likely a faulty valve or pump rather than failed bladder?
 
If you remove the back from the seat (2 plastic clips and then slide down) and move the seat back & base forwards. You will then be able to check where your air leak will be.

If when keeping the button pressed the sides inflate, then lift off button and you should be able to detect where the air is leaking from, be it either the valve at the side, the pipes or the inflation bladders. It is a very simple process. :)
