Driver's side unlocking intermittently

It will unlock with the key fob at times and other times it won't, but will lock using the fob. It will do the same with the switch inside the car. It has always opened using the key in the actual door lock.

Today I saw it lift the locking button on the door half way, but that did not unlock the door.

I am guessing I need to get into the door and maybe some lubrication on a couple critical points.

How difficult is it to remove the door panel to get to the workings inside the door ?

I seldom lock the car, years ago my brother told me to never lock a convertible since anyone with a knife has a key anyway...But at times I do lock it.

It will most probably be sticking relays in the GM5 module. A common issue with central locking issues.

I haven’t locked mine in 10 years, I have a broken iPod in the glove box, usually the petty thief will open the door, take the iPod and think he’s quids in while leaving my roof uncut and my windows in tact.

Thanks for the reply and info. I surely see your point. I like the idea of a trinket left for the thief...I have some trash laying around that just might be a thief’s idea of treasure.

Just ask the same question off the back of a thread from 2011!

So mr Nurburgring:

Is it likely to just be the relay's rather than the GM5 module? Mine wasn't unlocking either door via the remote, and only the drivers door with the key. I tried locking and unlocking with the button in the centre console, with no joy yesterday, but today after opening the passenger door from the inside, that button did seem to work intermittently.

Any help much appreciated!

Yes, it’s the relays on the GM5 module

I can do it for you as I run a professional electronics repair shop in Harrogate, N. Yorks, unfortunately it wouldn't be before end of Oct as am waiting on delivery of the relays.

Might be worth the day trip. Would you be about to do it whilst I waited?!

Don’t see why not, although most people post the gm5 module to me by courier and I send it back via UPS 24hr express. If you wanted to drop in person it usually takes about an hour or so. If you PM me end of Oct I’ll let you know what the stock status is on the relays.
