Hey Citation 650 thanks again you seem to have all the answers. You helped me last week with setting the clock. Thanks

Has anyone on here done the door panel removal procedure. If so, did you have any of these special tools?

I think my passenger side window needs it's rail clips replacing or tightening, but I need to get at it. I would take it to a specialist, but I think they want to replace the whole mechanism, and that costs ££££

I did it and it was eaaaasy :D
No special tools just a screwdriver

Never underestimate how crap I am at this sort of thing LOL!

Did you take absolutely everything off, as per the link posted above, or do you have any special tips? :D

I had mine off last night.. used no specialist tools.. just took a deep breath and went steady so as not to break anything.

I can't see the link above cause I'm at work, but the DIY I used was to install an led in the door handle. The first part of the DIY showed good pics of removing the door card.

The most nervous bit was pulling the card away from the door after unscrewing everything. I comes away.. just be brave!

I would also mention..
1) The plastic stopper under the door handle hiding a screw is soft plastic and will scratch easily. Use a very small screwdriver to remove or plan to visit a dealership to pick up a replacement.

2) Once the door card is off.. there is a foam lining sealed to the door. I assume for sound and water proofing. The sealant sticking the foam to the door was a horrible thick black silicon type adhesive. Its easier to slide a razor blade between the foam and the door and slice through the black sealant. Any other method ended up ripping or streching the foam. (At the end of the day it's not a biggy as the door card covers it all when replaced anyway.)

You'll also need to unscrew (but not detach) the airbag to get to the whole door and release all the foam. I didn't bother with this bit as I just needed to lube the window bar to cure a squeek.

HTH

Must read my posts before submitting!

I have also done this per the DIY already discussed...pretty straightforward...only thing I would add is that you can unhook the door linkage and take the entire trim panel away from your work area

I did have a set of the plastic dashboard removal tools from Bav Auto, and I was glad because I usually end up screwing up and scratching something pretty badly with screwdriver

the snap-in connections along the very top of the door frame were the most troublesome for me...I think some of them are a little bent out of shape now, but I suppose they could easily be replaced someday if I end up doing this a couple more times.

Cool guys, thanks for the advice... planning on getting completely s**tfaced tonight so prob won't be in any fit state to do it tomorrow, but Sunday is a possibility :D
