Drivers side door lock help

Hi need help.

When i fitted my mfsw i had to disconnect the battery so had to open drivers door with the key .
I put the key in and turned expecting the door to unlock but the key just kept tuning around as if there was no barrel so went around to passenger door no lock ( never noticed that before ) so battery back on so i could use the key fob to get in.
Is that right about the drivers side lock or is there something wrong with it ?
Any suggestions would be a great help.

Sounds like a problem to me - mine opens with the key as per normal insert and twist (shouldn't have said that....). Unfortunately this may indicate a previous unlawful attempt to get into your car....
 
Door lock barrel is broken as the whole idea is you can still get in. You may find alarm tripped for when you reconnect but at least door (boot too)should open.

Don't forget when you do this battery on and off business, it's easy to be doing things like you were on the steering wheel, leave an airbag disconnected and trip the airbag light. Results in a dealer or specialist reset.
