Drivers seat position.

Hi Everyone, recently picked up my G29, love the fun aspect, was messed about by the dealer when getting though, but that's another story.

Question I have to you all is how you are finding the seating position?

At present I find it difficult to find a position that doesn't give me a bad back on longer journeys.

When I first went out for a test drive everything felt fine, however after driving a few longer distances I found myself trying to tweak the seat position, which then made things worse.

The seats are manual and don't seem to have any lumber adjustment!

Can this be added after?

Any feedback welcome, trying to resolve as everything else is great!

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Forum!

I suffer from sciatica and need a comfortable seat but my G29 hasn't caused me any problems. My wife's Audi........well that's another story.

No there isn't a lumbar support adjustment, i did enquire about this some years back when buying my first BMW and was told that it is an option on new builds. However I've never felt the need.

I would doubt that it can be added later, but that's a question for the dealer.

Thanks for the reply Dr John.

I'm finding that the only positions that feel right mean that the steering wheel is low and then obscures the top inch and a half of the dash board!

Lower the seat and then adjust the steering wheel

I am in the USA if that makes any difference. My car does have lumbar adjustment. Mine has the "premium package" with an electrically adjustable leather seats. The roundish button controls lumbar support. This is located on seat's outside lower section with the other up-down-back-forth buttons. I have lots of back problems at age 73, but so far this car has been very comfortable. However, my longest trip has been only 3 hours. Only had the car for a few weeks.

I am beginning to wish I had got one with the electric seats!

Anyone know if I could retrofit an electric one? Even if it didn't have the memory function perhaps.

I will persevere and see what happens.

Other than the seat the car always puts a smile on my face.

I don't have electric seats (I'm the only driver), but I did add the lumbar support when I bought the car. This more often than not seems to be a BMW extra when it really should be included as standard.

Love that Misano blue, don't you? I would have also liked to have found the cognac seats for my care also, but there were very little choices here in the mid-south USA. I only found two Zed 4's within 500 miles that attracted me.

I do not believe the G29 sDrive 20i is imported in the USA, just the 30i and 40i. What is the difference between your car and those two models? I think I read somewhere the 20i was the same engine as the 30i, but tuned differently?

Thanks.

In a nutshell, same engine but different mapping. Otherwise, the only differences will be the packs specified when purchased. I don't know if the specs and packs, etc. are the same in the UK and and US; suspect there may be some small variations. Bike for fast, car for cruising!
