Drivers seat buckle seized up

Today I have found that my seat belt will no longer clip in to the buckle (or anchor, whatever it's called).

I have tried all the technical fixes such as hitting it and poking other things inside, but nothing seems to be returning it back to it's normal state.

Has anyone else faced this issue or does anyone have a link to a replacement part?

I can only see a spare nearside seat belt and pre-tensioner on ebay, but nothing for the off side (R). I'm assuming I will need to lift the seat out and replace the whole thing?

It probably wouldn't fix it but have you tried spraying lubricant?
Mine was the opposite. Wouldn't unclip easily until I sprayed.

If you need to replace the whole thing, it's a "big job". I'd personally remove seat but I guess you might be able to unbolt and tilt it so you can get sufficient access. Then there is a cable which runs through into the bottom of the seat so you'll need to unclip this and then re-route the new one (or second hand).

Also if you're replacing then you'll need to disconnect the battery otherwise it'll throw an airbag light.

I guess that's the turn it off and on car equivalent and no I haven't to be hounest, will give it a try tonight, thanks!

Hi, Peterborough Dave had the same problem a few months back - I was a winner that time so have the same advise:

Go and have a proper bigboys (not a quick girlie) look inside the mechanism. These are critical mechanical items designed not to fail after years of constant use. The most likely problem is something either in or under the locking clip inside the socket or stuck in the hole of the bit you clip into it. You will need a good torch; a bit of time and something long and thin to search in the corners - good luck!

That's positive, I did think it must be something inside but I couldn't find out how to take the cover off. Guess you're right, time to poke around a bit more
