Drivers (RH) mirror kicked off!

So Im just back from 10 days away in the States, to come back to my car, only to find that some baw bag has gone down the entire street kicking off wing mirrors. Thanks for that. Obviously since the Z4 attracts a bit more attention, it got a proper doing over. So as a result, the mirror glass is shattered, the mirror alloy mounting has sheared, the door dented and the the door scratched. To say Im annoyed is a mahoosive understatement. :x Question is, whats the best way to get it sorted? Im not going to go through insurance as I will loose my no claims etc. Does anyone have a spare mirror assembly? Thanks

There are some proper idiots about, would like to call them a different name, hope you can get your car repaired soon and for the right money :headbang:

Yeah, my thoughts exactly! I even parked it round the corner from my flat, thinking that its got less NEDS along it. Clearly I was wrong :x

Wing mirror replacement is an easy DIY job.

It's about 180 GBP for the unit including shell.

You'll need to get the shell sprayed unless you can salvage yours.

Glass - get it off ebay as new it is very expensive. Can you salvage the heater pad from the glass? then you can retain heating feature and bond plain glass to it.

To replace wing mirror, tweeter off, bolts out, door panel off, connect new cable. Or keep door panel on and feed old cable through new unit.

The lugs the mounting bolts screw into are not threaded so with new unit I recommend screwing bolts in once when off car to form the thread.

Rest of it is just cosmetic body work.

I had someone knock mine off so I feel your pain!

Thanks for the info

Ive been looking through the TIS and yeah, looks easy enough. Its the bloody damage to the door Im so annoyed about! Might take the chance to do a couple of touch up jobs. Still fookin livid though!

Likewise sorry to hear what happened, a few years ago some drunk tw*t did the same in our street, one of the neighbours saw it happen called the police, the guy got arrested, charged and bugger all happened. I think he got fined about £125 and because no one had seen him do all the cars in the street we got diddly squat :x

Hope you get it sorted soon

Just been to the dealers. £450 for a new mirror. Wish I caught the wee s**t who did it. Would like to have beaten 400 quid out of him...

Have you got 'vandalism' cover on your insurance policy?

If so, you may find that with a corresponding crime reference number from your local BIB you'll be able to recover it from your insurance without it affecting your no claims discount/bonus - and in some cases (the minority I'm afraid) you have no/lower excess to pay.

What was included in the quote? They aren't electric folding are they?

My brother in law has an immaculate 350Z and a week after he got it some drunken scum-bag decided to use it as a trampoline pushing in the boot/roof/bonnet. Despite being caught further down the street by another car owner who beat the living crap out of him for doing the same to his/neighbours motor, the only person charged/jailed was the other car owner who got 18 months for a first offence GBH...

Justice in this country is a complete joke.

They sure are: all singing, all dancing, all expensive

Georgio, thats unbelievable. I recon any and all GBH laws should be null and void if someone damages your property :P

I can give you an unpainted drivers side one of those for free.

But sadly that isn't the expensive part....

Tried scrap yards?
