Drivers door won't open

Any ideas why when my drivers side door gets warm it won't open?
Noticed it last weekend for the first time and it's just done it again.

Any easy fixes etc?

Cheers

Common fault and usually caused by the cable from handle to lock stretching when hot.

Happened to mine on Friday (for the first time ever) when parked in a sun trap for a couple of hours. Had to drop the window and open from the inside.

Easy enough if fiddly fix to take the door card off and replace the cable, although you may be able to get away with a bit of lock adjustment and even lubrication.

Be careful when it does happen, in my frustration due to the intermittent fault I ended up yanking the handle up over a period of 10 days finally I managed to break the plastic prongs that fix the outer door handle to the inner mechanism. That meant I had to get a new handle that does to come painted :headbang: . Be warned.

Is it from the inside or the central locking?

When its's the central locking, the relais switches in the gm5 module may need replacement.

It's the actual exterior handle when the suns on it. Pull it up and nothing happens
Must be the cable inside the door.
Once I had the windows down for 15mins cooling off it worked again.

Also my key doesn't put the windows down like everyone else's seems to :(

Had the same problem in mine last week on a hot day, when it was in the dealers today I had them strip the door, lube it up and adjust the door latch and mechanism, problem solved :D

Hang on did someone mention a sun trap ?

Laughable in the UK, but yes. Parked in a sheltered spot with drivers door in full sun. Paint was really hot to the touch and door wouldn't not open from outside. Was actually 19c yesterday in Lichfield - well happy with that :)

Will the stealership help me if my cable breaks off whatever is lifted when lifting the door handle? I'm pretty sure that's what's wrong with mine?
