Drivers Door Leak

I have a leak which is making the drivers footwell damp after heavy rain. After much research on here the culprit seemed likely to be the door liner. On removing the door card that turned out to be fine but I still taped the edge up with duct tape just be be sure. I then sprinkled talc over the door seal to see if that gave me any clues (another helpful trick from these forums). Turns out the water is entering through the door seal roughly level with the bottom of the windscreen as per arrow in photo.

Do I need a new door seal or is there a trick to revive the rubber?

Someone has a thread on here about this where they opened up the drains in that area

Have a search?

Looking at mine which gives me the odd dribble in the passenger footwell, I think the answer is "that all do that, sir". I think the problem is the water runs down the door seal but then doesn't exist thru the little drainage holes at the bottom and instead collects up and dribbles over the cabin side of the seal. I've seen reference to making the drain holes a little bigger here somewhere.

Thanks, I’ve seen the thread about the drain holes, I hadn’t twigged that it might be the fix for this. Feels a bit drastic but I guess if it leaks already there’s not much to lose! I’ll give it a go and report back
