Driver Training

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has ever done a driver training/track day type thing?

I would love to improve my abilities when driving "briskly", ideally in a Zed, but preferably not mine. Has anyone done any good trackdays with tuition? I know that I could take my own car to a track any time I like but I will not learn as much from that as I would with proper tuition.

I'm really tempted with the Aston Martin performance driving day but at £1200 it's on the steep side, you do however get a whole day of one to one track tuition in one of the finest vehicles on earth so I suppose it's reasonably good value wihen you think of it like that!

Was hoping there may be some cheaper options out there?

you could always do the IAM Skill for Life course - not a day but you get lots of help for road driving...

£139 for the course...

I wouldn't bother seeing as we will be driving around in 2nd gear soon with the proposed introduction of 20mph speed limits! :? If that goes through, what next! 40mph on motorways!! :P

The IAM isn't quite what I was looking for, my Roadcraft is generally ok (used to be a driving instructor), I'm more after learning how to get the most out of the car on the limits. Strangely it isn't part of the DSA test for instructors lol

I've had a look at the Car Limits site and it looks more or less spot on, apart from being in Essex, was hoping there may be some up here!
