Driver side wing mirror glass fell out !!!!

My drivers wing mirror fell off tonight. Managed to retrieve it before it fell. Noticed the mirror was really hot the day before. Could there be a heating element problem? Only had the car 7 months and a 1 series prior. Never had this happen before. :o

Don’t know how hot they feel to touch but the heater element is always active, not just with the heated rear window like most motors :)
